Issued in Public Interest

This is a message on our cell phones that most of us in Kolkata (probably throughout West Bengal) received last night / today:
"
Do not pay bribe. If Central Gov/PSU/Bank employee demand bribes for doing work in WB/Sikkim/Andaman & Nicobar, please call SP/CBI/Kol on 03322894404/9433060892 or email sp1ackol@cbi.gov.in
"

I know similar messages were sent in Bangalore and Delhi as well. Certainly a step in the right direction. Hope the state government agencies also take the initiative and set up something similar.

I too recieved this sort of a message . Mine one read "If a Central Govt Employee Demands BRIBE for Official Work in WB,SIKKIM & ANDAMAN & NICOBAR, Pls call..."

There's another one too. It goes like this:" This is your city. Be vigilant to safeguardit.Report unclaimed objects,suspicious persons/activity to police. Dial 100,1090 or email-cp@kolkatapolice.org" and this one's from Kol Police. This one is also quite a right step, considering recent events.

@Om
I understand it reads something like "If a Central/Delhi Govt./PSU/Bank employee demands bribe for any official work in Delhi, pls contact SP CBI at 24361535/3541/2494 or or 9968081216/17/18".

Further the email id for SP/CBI/Del is sp1acdel@cbi.gov.in

@Butterfly
Yeah, there is a variation in the actual message depending on the carrier. But the gist is same.

Of course Kolkata police taking the step is a right thing too.

Superb. I am curious to see the one floating here. I wonder if it is. Would love to see if it actually works.

@RT
I wonder why everyone in Delhi didn't receive it. I asked a few others about it as well. Some of them didn't receive the SMS.

very interesting move this!

Interesting and necessary. In the latest Corruptions Perception Index by Transparency International India ranked 85th out of 180 countries. This is a slip from last year's rank of 72.

@Adisha
Yeah, it is being spread across India. Apparently not everyone in Delhi got the SMS.
