There's something about Saree

... that makes ladies look good. Especially when you are used to seeing the same girls wearing jeans / t-shirt or salwar / kurta to office almost everyday. Then one fine day, they all decide to celebrate Diwali and wear ethnic wear. These girls (from the next process - same floor as me) are not coming to office on Diwali day itself, so it is an advance celebration for them.

Now, they should have told us, right? Why? Let me give you a few reasons:

As I entered the floor, I actually had to check if I am on the wrong floor! Then, I was in two minds, whether to put the sunglasses back on again.

The newest member of the team, barely legal age to work, makes it a point to stop to say hi and shake hands everyday. Yesterday, I was standing right in front of him, and he didn't notice! Of course he didn't notice! He was busy checking out other interesting subjects.

All the boys in my team took extra breaks! There was even a discussion, unofficially titled "Saree - what makes it so sexy - a scientific analysis". I haven't seen the performance stats for yesterday in isolation, but I have a feeling...

And if you thought all ladies were very productive, think again. They were last seen discussing "Chiffon vs. South Indian silk vs. 1024 other sarees". Heck, they ogle more than men do.

I could have got my camera and taken some cool portraits.

I KNOW!!! I remember everyone was checking out one of the cutest professors in college, when we were at Independence Day celebrations. Man, she looked hot. Yes, hot. Usually, sarees make women look beautiful and all that. But some women!

Sunglasses, eh? Usse age chhup jati hai? :O

I have always believed "Saree" is one dress which can make a gal looks whatever she want to.....elegant, sexy, sensual, beautiful etc etc..........the lady should know how to use it....thats it :)

Chitrangada: Congrats, YF. I agree, this post needs a good portrait in saree. Why don't you give me one of your paintings?

Rohit: Checking out your professor! Kahan hai woh sanskriti, parampara, shraddha! Yeh sab Shahrukh Khan ke wajah se (remember Mein hoon na?), is desh ka kya hoga.... etc, etc.

Deepak: Very true.

I agree, sarees make women look very nice.

So the men came back to staring, isn't it?
i'm telling you....women doing it just doesn't sound right.

Chitrangada - Thanks much. Any one of your existing wonderful painting will do. Please send me any one you think suits.

BASTM - I don't blame them for yesterday. The ladies were dressed to kill. At the same time, believe me, these ladies do it. I am a victim here.

AWESOME POST......

Wow..wow wow. Can't believe I am so happy. Is it because u talk in such a destitute way most of the time(when you are not pulling my leg that is)?

I Agree a hundred and ten percent. Saree is the most beautiful thing that happened to women. As I often say it is the only garment which shows everything yet shows nothing. And Deepak...very true...if a woman doesn't know how to carry it off...She can look horrendous.

Rohit - You didn't need inspiration. You were already spoilt!

Chitrangada - Thanks for the pic.

Proshanto - :-)

Kanu - Thanks. What is talking in destitude way?
